2025 Prediction: AI Cybersecurity Investments Will Become Pragmatic

This guest post was contributed by Erez Tadmor, Field CTO, Tufin Over the course of 2024, organizations slowly came to realize that AI would not revolutionize security immediately. There was a huge cost to experimenting and implementing AI security tools - and ROI was truly elusive. Next year will be different. Despite realizing that they must incorporate it sooner than later as a part of their operations, companies will have little tolerance for hype-fueled experimentation any longer.

Security teams will look for pragmatic AI-based solutions - ones that can actually impact their day-to-day jobs, while clearly showing leadership measurable results that give them a return on their investment. With a constantly expanding network environment - and a continuously evolving attack surface - AI-based solutions that can help identify points of exposure before they are being utilized or “breached” will become more dominant rather than experimental. Those AI tools that can also begin to remediate issues, or at least make informed recommendations about how to solve an issue, will stand out from the pack.

As AI investments turn pragmatic, companies will also emphasize a stronger alignment between the security and business sides of the business, ensuring the AI invested in is deployed strategically and its goals are continually updated, especially as the AI tech improves, and as company needs evolve.
