In a move that signals just how critical AI-powered data governance is becoming, Forcepoint today finalized its acquisition of Getvisibility, an Irish startup that's quietly become one of the most technically advanced players in the Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) and Data Detection and Response (DDR) space.
The acquisition marks a strategic expansion for Forcepoint, one of the enterprise security industry's mainstays, as it doubles down on the concept of “Data Security Everywhere”—an architecture designed to secure sensitive information at machine speed across cloud, on-prem, hybrid, and even GenAI ecosystems.
“Data moves fast—so does risk,” Forcepoint CEO Ryan Windham said in a statement. “By bringing Getvisibility fully into the Forcepoint family, we’re making it possible to see risk as it happens and stop it before it spreads.”
The key draw? Getvisibility’s AI Mesh, a web of purpose-built AI models that specialize in fine-grained data classification and real-time threat prioritization. It's not just another AI marketing buzzword—the platform has already been quietly powering parts of Forcepoint's DSPM solution through a partnership that began two years ago. Now, it becomes a native engine inside the larger Forcepoint security stack.
Building Intelligence Into Data Security
Getvisibility’s AI Mesh isn’t a generic large language model trained on open internet fodder. Instead, it’s designed for surgical precision: identifying crown-jewel data in motion and at rest, assessing who’s accessing it, where it’s going, and whether that movement represents business as usual—or the beginning of a breach.
The combination of AI Mesh with Forcepoint’s policy enforcement, deep packet inspection, and endpoint controls effectively creates a real-time decision system for data protection. This means smarter automation, fewer false positives, and better alignment with compliance mandates.
“Together with Getvisibility, we’re building out AI Mesh and risk insights to understand, adapt and secure data before it’s lost or misused—while helping our customers embrace innovation with confidence,” Windham added.
Zeroing In on GenAI Risk
While Forcepoint has long led the DLP (data loss prevention) market, today’s risk landscape is more fragmented. Employees paste proprietary code into ChatGPT, contractors move regulated data across unsecured cloud apps, and critical IP often travels across devices, many of them unmanaged.
That’s where this acquisition hits the sweet spot. The new integrated platform is built to dynamically discover and secure sensitive data even as it's shared across GenAI tools like Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini, or through more traditional SaaS platforms and BYOD environments.
A Natural Progression—and a Global Expansion
The acquisition also brings new leadership talent into Forcepoint’s executive ranks. Getvisibility CEO Mark Brosnan will lead global DSPM engineering efforts, while co-founder Ronan Murphy becomes the company’s Chief Data Strategy Officer.
“Our mandate has always been simple: help customers secure their data,” Brosnan said. “Joining Forcepoint allows us to take that mission further and faster—bringing real-time risk visibility and automated protection to organizations operating in the most complex and high-stakes environments.”
The buyout comes at a time when DSPM is no longer a niche capability—it’s becoming a boardroom priority, especially in regulated industries and government agencies grappling with AI sprawl and new data privacy laws.
