How ZEDEDA is Standing Out in Cloud Edge Computing

With edge devices and data exploding, Gartner predicts 75% of data will be off-site by 2025. ZEDEDA answers this complexity with its pioneering edge orchestration tool, cutting costs while boosting security and visibility. ZEDEDA Edge Access, the initial suite offering, allows immediate secure remote access for IT administrators. It's set to redefine edge management, enabling secure third-party access and potential revenue streams. ZEDEDA's strategic ties with giants like VMware and Emerson continue propelling its exponential growth. We spoke with Said Ouissal, founder and CEO of ZEDEDA, to discuss the company's mission, how it differentiates itself from others in the edge computing market, and the benefits its solutions are bringing to customers.

What is ZEDEDA’s mission?

ZEDEDA mission is to make edge computing effortless, open, and intrinsically secure — extending the cloud experience to the edge. ZEDEDA reduces the cost of managing and orchestrating distributed edge infrastructure and applications while increasing visibility, security and control. ZEDEDA delivers a distributed, cloud-native edge management and orchestration solution, simplifying the security and remote management of edge infrastructure and applications at scale.

How does ZEDEDA differentiate itself from other companies in the edge computing industry?

ZEDEDA’s differentiation lies in its industry-leading zero trust security model, open foundation and ecosystem. The solution uniquely supports any edge hardware as well as any application format (VMs, clusters, containers). ZEDEDA’s security approach is built to address the unique security requirements of the distributed edge, where there often is no physical perimeter. The zero trust security model features silicon-based root of trust (e.g., TPM), a crypto-based ID that eliminates local device login credentials, measured boot, remote attestation and full disk encryption. This ensures device integrity, detects anomalies in the software stack and governs data flow from edge to cloud with a policy-based distributed firewall. Compliance requirements are met via centralized management with Role-based Access Control. Compared to proprietary offers that lock users in, ZEDEDA is rooted in the open source EVE-OS, which can be thought of as the “Android of the Edge.” EVE-OS also unifies ZEDEDA’s open edge ecosystem, enabling users with choice of edge hardware and applications that are easily deployed on devices through the built-in app marketplace.

What are the potential benefits that customers can expect from ZEDEDA's new industry-leading suite of services in terms of cost reduction and overall operational efficiency?

ZEDEDA’s new industry-leading suite of services provides remote access, inventory and configuration management, and Kubernetes management services tailored to the individual needs of each deployment and customer. The first service in the suite, ZEDEDA Edge Access, enables IT administrators and platform operations teams to instantly access any remote device from any location at any time. ZEDEDA Edge Access Service also provides granular user control and access, enabling customers to provide third parties secure access to their edge infrastructure. For example, if there is a problem with a specific application, the software vendor or developer can securely access, audit and troubleshoot if needed. This service, and others like it, will ultimately enable ZEDEDA partners and OEMs to generate new revenue streams.

How do you see this solution fitting into the future of edge computing?

As seen with cloud providers during the early days, it is time for edge computing to evolve beyond infrastructure and begin to offer value-add to services. Edge Application Services offers customers the ability to manage, configure and control their edge applications by leveraging the ZEDEDA ecosystem; this helps customers establish a foundation for future growth. ###
