As cybercriminals sharpen their focus on exploiting human behavior, Mimecast is meeting them head-on with the debut of its Human Risk Command Center, a major evolution of its Human Risk Management (HRM) platform. Announced today at RSA Conference, the new offering equips organizations with a live operational view into employee-driven risk, bridging a critical gap in cybersecurity defenses.
Designed to turn the concept of "human as the weakest link" into "human as the first line of defense," the Command Center combines real-time risk scoring, third-party intelligence, behavioral intervention technology, and compliance safeguards into a single integrated console. It marks the latest move in Mimecast’s broader strategy to redefine how businesses monitor, measure, and mitigate human-centric threats across sprawling hybrid environments.
"Human risk is a pervasive challenge that all organizations must tackle head-on," said Marc van Zadelhoff, CEO of Mimecast. "Our Human Risk Command Center is a major step forward, providing the tools necessary to measure human risk, empower employees as defenders, and protect customers from sophisticated targeted attacks. This innovation helps simplify the complexity of managing human risk."
From Detection to Prevention: A New Layer of Defense
At the core of the new Command Center is Advanced Risk Scoring, a system that dynamically assigns vulnerability ratings to users based on behavioral signals, exposure levels, and integrated security telemetry. This enables security teams to prioritize their response based not just on technical vulnerabilities but on real-world employee behavior.
The Command Center also taps into a robust pool of Integrated Security Intelligence through Mimecast's extensive partner network, comprising over 300 third-party applications and 1.3 billion API calls monthly. These integrations create a richer threat landscape view, layering human risk insights with technical telemetry from across an organization's ecosystem.
But visibility alone isn't the endgame. Mimecast’s new platform emphasizes Proactive Interventions — adaptive nudges and educational moments delivered via Slack and other communication tools, aimed at correcting risky behaviors in real time. Powered by Mimecast Engage® technology, these interventions seek to change user behavior before it becomes an exploitable incident.
On the compliance front, the roadmap includes integration with Mimecast Aware, expanding the Command Center’s scope to monitor and protect collaboration platforms against data leakage and policy violations at scale.
A Broader Ecosystem Play — and a Spotlight at RSA
Mimecast’s announcement reflects a deeper industry shift toward convergence: tying together risk detection, employee training, insider threat prevention, and data governance into a single operating layer. The move also aligns with Mimecast’s larger expansion in the cloud marketplace, following its Rising Star Technology Partner of the Year award for EMEA from AWS in December 2024.
Highlighting its commitment to openness and integration, Mimecast now serves more than 6,000 connected customers and emphasizes plug-and-play compatibility through AWS Marketplace — streamlining deployment for enterprises with increasingly fragmented IT environments.
At RSA, Mimecast Chief Product Officer Rob Juncker will delve deeper into emerging threats, hosting a session titled "The Telltale Signs of AI-Generated Emails: Building a Detection Engine" on Thursday, May 1 at 9:40 a.m. PDT, Moscone West 202.
Industry Endorsements Validate Mimecast’s Strategy
Mimecast’s accelerated innovation cycle is gaining traction among analysts as well. The company was recently named a ‘Strong Performer’ in the Forrester Wave™: Human Risk Management Solutions, Q3 2024, and secured ‘Leader’ rankings in both the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Email Security and the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Digital Communications Governance and Archiving Solutions.
The Human Risk Command Center is available today for Mimecast Engage customers and is slated for general release to Mimecast Email Security Cloud Gateway users in June 2025.
As insider threats grow more sophisticated and perimeter defenses alone prove insufficient, Mimecast is betting that empowering organizations to understand and act on human risk will define the next frontier of cybersecurity resilience.
